Lupos Global has an exciting requirement for an Engineering Manager – Helicopters to be based in Cairns, Australia. Starting ASAP! This is a permanent position.

Our client is a leading maintenance and repair organisation (MRO) specialising in fixed and rotary wing aircraft. 

The role would suit someone who is an honest individual with focus, determination, highly motivated and organised.

Base Maintenance
Permanent Position: 4-day Roster (Monday to Thursday or Tuesday to Friday)
Working Hours: 6:30 to 16:30

Job responsibilities:

  • Liaise with the Regulator for matters which the RM is responsible for under the MOE.

  • Provide direction and guidance to maintenance personnel to ensure management of all day-to-day maintenance activities are conducted appropriately by the company

  • Ensure the maintenance personnel are rostered in a manner conducive to the manpower plan and in line with current fatigue rules.

  • Ensure the working environment is appropriate for the tasks being undertaken, including facility management/maintenance

  • Ensure effective management support to Technical Services

  • Ensure there is adequate storage facilities – tools, equipment and materials

  • Ensure there are sufficient competent personnel to plan, perform, supervise, inspect and certify the work being performed

  • Project Manage all approved maintenance checks, with engineering team

  • Ensure there are tools, equipment and materials to perform the planned tasks and that those tools and equipment is serviceable and fit for purpose,

  • Demonstrate that all maintenance is correctly certified for and that records of maintenance carried out are retained safely and securely for the statutory period.

  • Ensure that the organisations procedure and standards are complied with when carrying out maintenance

  • Ensure the quality of workmanship in the final product is to a standard acceptable to the organisation and CASA

  • Ensure the competency of all personnel and manage this through the companies training program with QAS as per MOE instructions

  • Liaise with the Project Manager, Customers and CEO for quoting requirements for line maintenance jobs.

  • Responsible for quoting of all new projects in relation to the role as per the Company processes.

  • Respond to all quality deficiencies raised internally or externally through the companies audit process

  • Conduct staff performance reviews

  • Conduct toolbox and team meetings as required

  • Participate the various company meetings as required

  • Maintain a working knowledge of the Part 145 MOS and the exposition to ensure that the AMO complies with its requirements within its exposition, approval rating and CASR 1998

  • Promote the company’s safety management system along with understanding the application of human factors and performance issues appropriate to the Engineering Departments

  • Support the CEO in achievement of goals set out for the company under Group policies, processes and performance measures

  • Customer focus and engagement


Experience Ideally Required:

  • Management Experience in an aviation maintenance environment or similar

  • Qualification such as an Advanced Diploma of Aviation Management (avionics or mechanical) or Selected units of competency that form that qualification may be suitable

  • Working Knowledge of CASA Part 42, 145 and CAR 30 and have an Aircraft Engineering Licence similar in discipline to the Rotary Wing aircraft

  • A related allied trade qualification and experience of minimum 5 years in a similar management type role
